Summary: Overall Toning Workout
Comment: Definitely an 80's tape as far as hairdo's & clothing. However, the toning exercises are good. I started with this before moving up to weights. I still go back to it when I feel tired. Denise uses some suprisingly simple moves that work!

Summary: Great How-To Instructions with Most Exercises
Comment: Other reviewers have touched upon the dated fashions and rather mundane music in this video. If you can get past that, I think this is a worthwhile video to alternate with aerobic workouts. It's easy to learn, requires very little floor space, a provides a comfortable challenge.

What sets this video apart from some others in my collection are the inset videos during some of the exercises where Denise Austin discusses proper body form and how the exercise should feel. This is very important for beginners and a good reminder for those who know better but want to feel the burn.

I'm not thrilled with the warm up in this video because Austin seems to be substituting the act of keeping arms extended until they hurt as a substitute for any real arm toning exercises. It does feel a little silly later in the video to do bicep curls with no weights, but you could easily add some.

The floor work includes enough abdominal crunches to make it a challenge for beginners and a good level for those within to maintain good strength and fitness. Three different versions of sit ups are used, and none are too awkward. The leg exercises are fairly easy, and slightly modified from what I'm used to. There are also an awful lot of butt squeeze exercises in this video. They feel silly, but you know you got a good workout when Austin leads you through stretches at the end.

All in all, I like this workout and plan to use it as a part of my fitness regime. I don't have much time to exercise, so I appreciate how much benefit I can get from this one in only a half an hour.

Summary: Love it!
Comment: I just re-bought this tape--wore out my previous copy! This is a non-aerobic, gentle, toning workout that takes only 30 minutes and really does keep you toned. Excellent for doing in small places and very easy on the joints. Nothing fancy, and yes, it's an oldie, but it's solid.

Summary: My favorite tape
Comment: I had bought a Denise Toning video a long time ago. It got ruined in my VCR. It was my favorite tape. I could not find it anywhere. I needed a new toning video and came across this one. And it turns out that it is the same tape I ruined but it had a different name and picture. I am so glad to have gotten this back. It is easy to do and it targets every part of your body. It is a non aerobic video. I combine this with Walking Aerobics from Leslie Sansome and Tae Bo.

Summary: A Classic That Really Works!
Comment: I wore out my first copy of this tape and am buying another--it's one of the best toning videos I've done. The hip and thigh work is fabulous, better than Denise's "Totally Firm" tape and anyone else's. You can do this tape in your bare feet (hardly any leg movement), without weights, and in a tiny space, too. I saw results within a few weeks--amazing! On the downside, the music is simply awful and there's nothing fancy to get excited about (rather dull, frankly), but as Denise says, "These work!" And they do. I especially recommend this video to people who never tried toning before, since it's so easy to follow. Yet I've been alternating it with weight-lifting tapes for 10 years now, and it's still the all-around best!
