Customer Rating: Summary: HORRIBLE.......JUST HORRIBLE..STAY AWAY FROM THIS....IT IS RIDICULOUS Comment: Here we go. If you are considering purchasing this movie, then make your own decision for yourself, this is just my opinion here. This film is horrible. The first Superfly was wonderful, packed with an awesome soundtrack, and a good script for a black exploitation film. This thing here, this is where they just wasted American dollars. That is right, I believe money was completely wasted producing a film like this, and if you catch it on television any time soon, the channel is just trying to gain black viewership in a cheap manner. The film was so boring I couldn't watch anymore. Superfly, once the cool dealer from the city, is sitting on a horse saying "wooh now baby, get it togetha now get it togetha". Once you see that scene in the movie, if that does not annoy you then I don't know what will. "GET IT TOGETHA NOW" No the horse should throw run you into a tree branch, buddy. Ron O'neal was a great actor, but um, this film didn't do him any good. It was a massive flop in the 70s and is still horrible to watch. You know, I can't imagine anyone buying this film except someone who admires black exploitation films and thought this would follow up on the trend.
Customer Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT SEQUEL WITH A SOLID SCRIPT Comment: Ron O'Neal and Alex Haley did a fine job with this sequel and it's my favorite of the three Suerfly films. I've shared my love for this film and many people have told me that they didn't like the idea of Superfly not being a drug dealer. That's too bad. The first film was about getting out of the life and this continues where the first one left off. O'Neal gives a powerful performance as a man taking control of his own life and finding himself and his roots. As a first time director O'Neal did a great job. His only real "error" is in the third act when our hero is shown working on a complicated plan to escape from his captors. This scene takes place in real time and shows that Priest lives by his wits but it's far from quick or simple. It moves along slower than the more action packed finale of the first Superfly and isn't as satisfying. However, there are so many great moments in the rest of the film that it really is far better than some say it is. This is well written with a powerful performance by O'Neal. The rest of the cast is excellent too. Superfly T.N.T. remains my favorite Superfly.
Customer Rating: Summary: An Experience in Boredom Comment: A total fiasco! This movie doesn't even come near as " so bad is good " since is a total bore! The original SUPERFLY is an urban classic with a wonderful Curtis Mayfield score. This one the music by OSIBISA is good but not enough to compensate Mr. Ron O'Neal's lousy direction and Alex Hailey boring script. Sure, Mr.Hailey did a better job with ROOTS, but this story was dumb, uninteresting & forgettable. Beware, you have been warned!
Customer Rating: Summary: bad sequel Comment: this movie is probably the worst sequel that I have ever seen! please do yourself a favor, and stick to the original superfly. this film would have still been horrible, even if curtis mayfield had returned to do the score. pass on this one.
