Customer Rating: Summary: BUYER BEWARE Comment: BUYER BEWARE, TOTAL RIPOFF!
Software doesn't load, customer service is useless, labels are garbage.
I don't often have the time to leave reviews, but made sure on this one as it is a ripoff, shame on you Avery!
Customer Rating: Summary: Software is horrible Comment: I was mostly interested in the stomper when making this purchase, the template software was secondary. I am fairly fluent in using different types of software in the normal course of my business, (MS Publisher, Adobe Photoshop). Just trying to insert a picture file required many steps and was extrememly awkward to use.
Additionally I had problems with the printing lining up on the label sheet. I would print on plain paper first, hold the page up to the light with the label page and all would be good. Then I would run a sheet with the labels and it would be off by 1/2". I have no idea why this would occur.
Customer Rating: Summary: Clunky Software, Label sheets are cheap Comment: I am not happy with this product at all. All of this was done on a Lenovo T60 Thinkpad with Intel Core Duo and ATI mobile graphics...
Pros: Help Menu is written well, cuts down on learning curve. Only takes a half hour to figure out how to create a black and white text-only label.
Cons: Labels feel cheap. Overperforated in the center. No instructions come in the box other than installing software.
Can't print two blanks per sheet in one pass. When I ask the program to print two copies, It will use two sheets, and only print on one blank per sheet!
The software is abyssmal.
It's ugly. Looks like something a 10 year old would make on their first Visual Basic project.
Up to three second delay between typing on the keyboard and it showing up in the text box on the screen. This makes it difficult to quickly do any project. If you type past the text box window, no scroll bar shows up (even though it will show on your CD label) and you can't see what you're doing.
It takes 15-50 seconds after hitting "print" for the system to "process" the print job (indicated by a status bar onscreen). This is a B&W label, mind you!
Hard to make changes to anything. Color, opacity, texture are each in collapsible submenus which can only be opened one at a time. Font size, type, etc is a floating toolbar that is VERY TINY. There is a lag when you try to open a drop down menu (I just want to change the font size fellas!) Program tries to create a photoshop-esque "layer" system with the elements you create, but it doesn't work. For example, I wanted to change the text in one of the text fields I made at the beginning of the project, so I clicked on it, and the text I wanted to change opened in the collapsible menu. But when I changed the text, ALL of my text elements changed to what I typed in! WTF?
At this point, I figure you've stopped reading this. I don't have a better recommendation for you, but certainly don't buy this.
Customer Rating: Summary: The size of the hole matters Comment: I don't see any indication about the size of holes, which I've discovered is the whole secret to placing the label accurately on the disk. Even with the Stomper device, the big holes frequently were off-center on the disc. Moreover, the sheets with the big/little hole "option" are simply a pain. The little hole tears loose even when it's needed, leaving you with the gaping, indeterminate, space-robbing, inaccurate big-hole label. Maybe these are all little hole labels, but with a feature so desirable and necessary, I wouldn't order them unless the labeling clearly says so. (Maybe the Avery people labeled this package with the problematic big holes. That would account for the missing information.)
If manufacturers are convinced consumers want clear centers, make labels that have a transparent center--but keep a small orifice in the label with no perforated nonsense.
Customer Rating: Summary: Perfect! Comment: Whoever came up with this item is a genius! The labels print out great & the application is a breeze! Makes very professional labels in minutes. With the software included you can use one of their designs or make up your own. One thing to beware of is that the paper template page they include to make sure the design is alligned correctly is off. Don't bother using it.
