Summary: The fan that could...
Comment: Air circulator is a true description. A little noisy but the most effective fan I have yet owned. We turn the air conditioner at it lowest setting and we are more comfortable than ever. On a cool evening it exchanges the cooler outdoor air with the warmer indoor in a short amount of time. We will purchase additional units for our two sons.

Comment: I had one of these fans many years ago. This model does not seem as powerful on the highest speed but appears to be the same on the slowest. This fan is significantly more powerful than other fans that look similar. I like the sound it makes - resembles a low-revving single engine aircraft. I use it mostly to aerate the room which means leaving it switched on for just a few minutes. Highly reccommended.

Summary: It caught fire, nearly killed me
Comment: I've had my fan for 10 or more years?? Loved it, liked the loud jet like noise. When you first turn it on, it does get less loud then it gets louder. Last night, it had been running for 2 hours, at 2 am. I woke up, it was on fire and my room was full of smoke. If I hadn't woken up......

Summary: BE VERY WARY OF THIS ITEM!!!!!!!
Comment: I had my 2nd one (HLSU22003UC 20" High Velocity Fan, 3 Speed, 23"x7"x23", Chrome) for 3-4 days and it nearly caught fire. NO JOKE!!!! I had the speed set on high and the next thing I know was I heard the motor idling down all of the sudden to the lowest speed possible. I unplugged it immediately and good thing I did, because the motor was extremely hot, and I could smell something burning inside. I have owned 3 of these now in the last 2+ years. One just conked out 3-4 days ago after 2 year of use. Slightly different model than this one listed here though (Patton U2-1887 20-Inch High Velocity Whole-House Air Circulating Fan). Motor/Blades locked up on it. I now have the 3rd one up and running (Patton U2-2003-UC 20-Inch Velocity Air Circulating Fan) and will keep you posted on how this works out.

P.S. I should also add that this particular fan/model once put together and running for the first time started making a humming noise right out of the box.
