Summary: Great Product, but a bit pricey?
Comment: I love what the product does, but I feel like for the price I paid it leaves something to be desired.
Starting with the good stuff - the iLap is the perfect accessory for the MacBook Pro and has made it so much easier for me to work by reducing neck and wrist strain. The clean lines (without the wrist pad) compliment those of the laptop. It's great that they included the gripper pads to be used in case the feet of your laptop wear out. I'm definitely glad I have it.
The not-so-good stuff - I was a little disappointed when I first took it out of the box. Not impressed by the cover on the wrist rest. Looks like the same material used on a cheap sofa pillow. It produces this clattering noise (from the back leg) when you're carrying it. I have to wonder if the fact that you can't secure that leg is going to cause a problem later on down the line.
Maybe the solution to making this the PERFECT $50 product is to snug up the connections on the back leg and include a selection of snazzy "slip covers" for the wrist rest. Or maybe I should get busy and make my own? ;-)

The iLap is an excellent product that will extend the life of your computer. Let's look at the big picture: the iLap might seem expensive at first, but consider how much you would pay to replace your laptop. The iLap is designed so you can use your computer in a more comfortable way. Plus, it pulls heat from your laptop, and heat is the enemy of any electronic device. A cooler computer runs more efficiently and should last longer.
As you read some of the other reviews, you see that some people have given the iLap a good score, but they complain about the price. That is short
sighted. I find the iLap to be a simple and effective product, that will give me more quality time with my computer. That just makes good sense, and I think the iLap is fairly priced.
As far as quality, I have had no problems with construction or function. This stand is solid and sturdy, and the cushions stay in place. The front one is easily removed and reattached when necessary. The iLap is comfortable to use either on a lap or a desk.
I noticed right away that my Mac runs cooler than ever, and the fan rarely comes on. That shows that the aluminum base removes heat from the computer. Honestly, I looked at every laptop stand on the market, and the iLap is clearly the best choice. Whether you have a PC or a Mac, you can choose an iLap to best fit your computer.
My iLap is a superior product and is fairly priced. My advice: buy it, and don't pay attention to those negative reviews. I like mine so much that I bought one for my daughter who just graduated from college!

Comment: I bought this product for my wife and inlaws. Everyone that uses it loves it. Looks stylish and funtional but made very cheaply. As some others also pointed out that I was reading. There are other options out there but none as nice or funtional. I would recommend this product to anyone who owns a laptop. I would only ask that Rain Design makes it a little better for the money. I can just see those rivets comming out and me having to frankenstien it back together. I live to go to the hardware store.

Comment: Aluminum is a heatsink for the MacBook Pro and the Powerbook, so adding another layer of it in the form of a lap desk is the way to go. iLap comes with rubber feet to preserve your laptop feet. I had a lot of carpal tunnel issues in the wrist and arm so I need ergonomic solutions. Well I am pain free thanks to the iLap and a Logitech Marble Mouse.
