Summary: The Beginning of the Best Anime Mecha Series Ever!!!
Comment: This is by far the best anime mecha series ever fathomed, i've watched several other mecha shows and have not found one that has surpassed the action, in-depth character knowledge, and drama in Gundam Wing.

Just hearing the Menu Screen music makes me want to watch more and more, i have successfully watched the series atleast 15 times now and still it hasn't worn off of me. Me and my sister are huge fans and really wish there was more.

If you're debating on getting this mecha or another, never flip a coin. This is by far the best you can buy with 50 episodes on 5 discs in the 1st compilation, it's great!

I hope everyone will enjoy this series as much as me and my sister have, and hope you recruit others into your obsession with this great show.

Summary: An Old Favorite
Comment: This particular box set brings back memories of those hot afternoons as a kid, running in to watch this show on Cartoon Network. Now that I've grown up a bit I do enjoy it in doses, the series while still a clingy bit of nostalgia for me is much more clunky unedited and the main characters sometimes a bit over simplified (I.E. Heero Yuy - "Prodigal emotionless mercenary",Duo Maxwell - "Death bringer with a smile",Trowa Barton - "other emotionally void character for other more valid reasons").Where I feel the main characters lack the supporting cast/OZ organization picks up some of the slack. For example,Lucrezia Noin was ironic and proper foil to the love stricken Relena Peacecraft/Darlian.
All in all not bad for nostalgia sake but can be very very bland for those that aren't able to forgive the simple plot, mostly simple characters, or mind waiting eons for the plot to pick up it's bum and move a bit.

Summary: Gundam Wing!
Comment: I fell in love with this series the summer of 1998 when it was aired on Cartoon Network...then was aired again as "uncut" with the nightly Toonomi segment. The story line is amazingly complex and detailed and none of the main characters seem to be just 2-D, but rather their personalities are built up! If you love Gundam, check out "Gundam Wing"! I bought this stright from amazon without going through a third party seller, brand new. It came wrapped in plastic (just like you would get if you bought it in the store) and in perfect condition!

Summary: Perfect set, no problems at all!
Comment: Well, after ordering this set, and then reading about the disc 1 errors, I was a little hesitant in my purchase. The moment this came in, I put in disc 1 and played through episodes 3-5. I have had no issue and everything plays great.

To complete this set, order the Complete Collections II and Endless Waltz. This was on of my favorite shows years ago, and I'm glad I can own it for a fraction of the cost compared to the original box set. The entire series cost me $40.

Summary: It was good the first time around
Comment: I first saw Gundam Wing on Cartoon Network and loved it. The battle scenes were incredible and the interplay between the characters was as realistic as one could possibly hope for. At that time, I thought it the perfect heir to the Robotech universe.

That was before I really got into anime such RahXephon (probably the best of the transforming mecha shows), as well as other series like Le Chevalier d'Eon and Last Exile, that were far and away more sophisticated and better suited to an 'older' anime geek.

I confess, the giant robot genre got old really fast.

Sometimes it's best to leave fond memories as such. Watching Gundam Wing again, I came to realize just how much I hated the main character Heero Yui. Within less than three episodes, I totally wished that he would commit suicide as he so often (to the point of ridiculousness) planned to do in order to keep the Gundams from falling into enemy hands. The other characters who got on my last nerve were Wu-Fei Chang (who was obviously overdosing on Sun-Tzu); Quattre Raberba Winner (wasn't he supposed to be 'Arabic'?); Relina Dorlian and Dorothy Catalonia of the scary uni-brow made me roll my eyes. I mean, why fall in love with a guy who tells you that he's going to kill you after you invite him to your birthday party?

Interestingly enough, it was actually the so-called 'bad guys' who still make this show worth watching. The idealistic Treize Kushrenada, a seeming throwback to a more chivalrous age; his cold and calculating hench-woman Lady Une (who later undergoes a most interesting transformation); Lucrezia Noin, the loyal Oz soldier who begins to question exactly where her loyalties lie...and with whom; and of course MY personal favourite character--the mysterious Lightning Baron, Zech Merquise (aka Millardo Peacecraft and Relina's brother). Some people thought the half-mask was cheesy, but I thought it made him a very compelling and unique character.

The bad guys are why I give this series a three; though I admit I don't think I'll be watching it ever again. Oh well...the memories remain.
