Customer Rating: Summary: panasonic powerline adaptor Comment: This product is as easy as 1-2-3. Just plug it directly into the wall, connect your ethernet to your router and to you computer/gaming system. The product works flawlessly. I like the idea of not having to broadcast wireless, leaving my network at risk of intrusion and not sacrificing the speed. I bought this product to move my desk into a built in area and to connect my xbox 360 wired not wireless. So far so good. I recommend this product to anyone how can understand third grade instructions.
Customer Rating: Summary: Outstanding product Comment: As an IT professional I HIGHLY recommend these to anyone needing to extend their network in a secure way (far better than wireless). A few simple button pushes and bingo--network where ever you plug in.

Customer Rating: Summary: So far it's doing the trick Comment: I'm using this to send a internet connection to my Dish TV receiver in order to avoid the monthly charge of not having it always connected to the internet. I don't have a phone line and there are no LAN wires ran to this area of my house. The unit shows a good connection, and the warnings from the Dish TV receiver don't show up anymore....so it must be working. So far, so good....especially at the price I paid.
Customer Rating: Summary: Did not work for me Comment: I read the reviews and understood it was a roll of the dice. Decided to take my chances, and sure enough, in my environment I got no signal.
(Actually I did get signal between certain outlets, but none in the rooms I needed to connect.)
It would be nice if there was some kind of inexpensive testing kit to determine ahead of time whether this would work. They do seem to be accustomed to returns though, the box has clear repacking instructions on the inside cover.
Customer Rating: Summary: Not sure what other people expect for speed, but... Comment: First off, apparently my patio home isn't the greatest location for powerline networking due to the large number of UPS's I have installed. But when the room I wanted to put the slave unit only got 1 speed-test light (out of a possible 3) I tracked down an outlet in my master bathroom where all 3 lights lit indicating >=30mbps. I then ran a long CAT5E cable to there from my Xbox 360 and ran a streaming video test. What it came down to was MAYBE 802.11G speed which isn't good enough for HD video, no matter what reviews I found for this device claiming that it would probably be good for HD.
Now, I am still in the retesting part of the install, where I've ordered a new phase coupler for the dryer plug to see if that helps. I had a X10-specific coupler in there, and when I removed it I saw no change in either my X10 signaling or my power networking, but I'm not enough of an expert to know why. Perhaps it's X10 degrading the networking throughput, so I was careful to select a coupler that was for networking. If I can't use the BL-PA100 kit for the 360, I'll see about printing with it.
So no, it's not quite what I needed yet, and it may not be even after more time, money, and effort. Perhaps my standards are higher than others who rate it with 5 stars. Just be careful about your expectations for it...

A groundbreaking option in no-new-wires connections, the new BL-PA100 is a product that makes it extremely easy to set up a robust network for connecting devices. A reliable network capable of carrying high-definition video content required running dedicated cabling between devices, a possibly expensive and time-consuming venture. With a Wireless LAN, wireless interference and network collisions are a significant problem for many users, in some cases causing the network to drop out or suffer extremely poor bandwidth capacity, and it might be difficult for the average person to properly set the security code (WEP), thereby risking online security. The BL-PA100 adaptor eliminates these, and other, hassles associated with this process. Simply plug the adaptor into an electric power outlet, plug your PC or other peripheral, such as a Panasonic IP network camera, into the adaptor's Ethernet port and you're ready to go. To add a second HD-PLC adaptor, plug the Master and Terminal units into the same power outlet, and push the Setup button on each unit. Then, wait for the adaptors' LED lights to turn on to confirm that setup is complete. To re-locate the Internet connection, simply take the adaptor out of the current power outlet and move it to another outlet in the desired location. The HD-PLC (High Definition Power Line Communication) ethernet adaptor makes it possible for your home electrical wiring to serve as a link between your PC and modem. Getting online access is as easy as plugging into a power outlet. You can move your PC and connect to the internet anywhere there is a power outlet in your home.
