Summary: good out of the gate
Comment: just got this product and set it up. i must say that i was a little concerned about it since there are a fair number of negative reviews on this product. first, i am pretty technical with the oddish knowledge gap here and there, so weigh my comments in this light.

from box to first disc print took me about 30 minutes. i read some negative reviews about how complicated this was. just read the quick start and follow it and you should be fine.

i am a photographer, so i first wanted to see how the thing performed with a photo. i just plopped a photo on the canvas, added some quick text to look a little like a customer disc saved the project and went to print. set the print quality to the best possible and made sure the surface was matched to the settings for the printer and pulled the trigger.

print time was acceptable - i won't be doing a high volume cd-print business. it took a few minutes - i didn't time it. the result is far and away better than anything i had ever produced so right out of the box, i am pretty happy.

that being said, there has to be a way to push this thing further and get a nice crisp image without added 'grain' or 'noise' to the print. also, i saw some concentric print tracks - probably from how the disc printer operates (a 'ring' at a time). this is the '4' star rating.

i will be back, if i can spare the time later to let you know if i find a way to improve the print process via settings, printer profile or other.

Summary: Good Disc Printer
Comment: This is a good disc printer, but it does not have the 64 bit driver for it. Also, not as sharp print as I expected. Still it does work well (Windows XP and 32 bit Vista). Contacted tech support and they stated that a 64 bit driver will arrive soon.

Summary: CS Manager
Comment: The Dymo DiscPainter printer is a disappointment for two reasons. 1. Error message appears frequently requesting the correct disc size. This happens when printing multiple copies and the same disc size is inserted. 2. This same error message makes in impossible to print using a template supplied for indesign.. photoshop. It just will not work.
Our company uses label printers made by Dymo. These have quarks that we live with. I should have know better to trust a company "Dymo" to come out with a trouble free machine. I do not expect Dymo to fix their DiscPainter printer anytime soon based on their past track record. I do not recommend the Dymo DiscPainter printer. Hope this helps.

Summary: The best home CD labeler out there for the best price
Comment: Hands down, this was the perfect $300 investment for my home recording studio. I am often creating mix/production reels for family, friends, artists, and clients, and I used to have to go to a friend's house to have labels printed directly onto a CD to make them look professional. Well, no more travelling anymore in order to print my CDs (unless you consider walking down a flight of stairs to my basement "travelling"). It takes 2-3 minutes to print one CD on the highest quality - just make sure you adjust the settings in the "Print" tab when working in the Dymo software. Thus far, I've used both matte and glossy CDs, and the quality is incredible - and I'm not just saying that. The Dymo software is so incredibly easy to use, that "even a caveman could do it."

Also, if you order from Disc Makers [...], you have the opportunity to upgrade your order and add 100 glossy, water-resistant CDs for only [...]. Honestly, I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Summary: Print amazing covers on disc...yolite co.
Comment: It will print real amazing pictures onto the disc, note that the matte discs, the picture come out grainy, so I recommend that you use the water shield disc with this printer.

Editorial Reviews:

Perfect for home or office use, the Dymo DiscPainter CD/DVD Color Printer allows you to professionally label your CDs and DVDs quickly, easily, and cleanly without the hassle of adhesive labels or markers. Use three settings to regulate the resolution quality and printing speed of your labels, from the Fast setting with 600 dpi and two nozzle passes, to Normal with 600 dpi and eight nozzle passes, and Best with 1200 dpi and eight nozzle passes. RadialPrint Technology lays down ink directly on your disc as it spins, with the printing speed, ink density, and image complexity increasing with each setting. In as little as 30 seconds to three minutes, you'll have vibrant, crisp, beautifully labeled CDs and DVDs.

The 4.33-by-10.62-by-5.71-inch DiscPainter is compact enough to fit on your desk and is compatible with all Inkjet printable CDs, full-sized DVDs, and mini discs, and prints with nine ink density settings, allowing you to precisely control the ink quality and optimize images on matte, colored, and glossy discs, as well as printing from the inner hub to the outer edge. Simply slide your disk inside, close the lid, and start to print. In addition, this 2.65 pound color printer works with both Windows XP and Mac OS 10.3 and later, and it includes a 1-year limited manufacturer's warranty.

What's in the Box
1738260 DiscPainter, AC power adapter, USB cable, color ink cartridge, and three inkjet printable discs.
