Customer Rating: Summary: Good AC Unit Comment: I've had this AC for alomost a month and I really can't say a bad thing about it. I love the Energy Star mode which I leave on during the day when we are not home, its not running all day long but its cool when you get home after work, so we should be saving on electricity. It cools pretty much the whole other side of my apartment. We could not use the bracket that came with it, our window sil would not allow us to screw it in. But the side panels that came with it which we screwed right into the AC unit itself seems to hold it up pretty well, very secure. It's quiet too, not too loud at all, perfect for sleeping. When you have to clean the filter, it tells you to check the filter so there is no guessing there. All in all, it is a good AC unit. Happy to have purchased it, good price too I think for a vertical AC unit.
Customer Rating: Summary: Needs better engineering. Comment: Unit had poor instaltion instruction. Also unit is too noisy for sleeping even on low fan. Compresser makes loud bang when it stops.
Customer Rating: Summary: Very COOL air conditioner Comment: very nice air conditioner with a lot of great featuresFrigidaire FAK085R7V 8,000-BTU Slider/Casement Air Conditioner with Electronic Controls
Customer Rating: Summary: Terrible Service from Frigidaire Never could get parts to mount unit Comment: I purchased the unit in early May, it is now the end of July and I am waiting for UPS to pick it up. After 5 trys to get the right part to install the unit, I give up.
The unit came with a bent installation brace. I called Frigidaire on their toll free number, you are told to call a non toll free number. After talking with a service rep with very limited english, they finally agreed to send a replacement part. WRONG Part sent. Tried again, same treatment.
They recommended taking the unit to a Frigidaire service place. They don't do air conditioners, but did order the part. Frigidaire has no record of the order. I watched the repairman place the order, so I know it was sent.
When I called about that order, I again ordered the part. Wrong part again.
Since they take at least 2 weeks for each of these cycles, That chewed up 2 months. I quit. I am sending the unit back.
I bought another brand from a local dealer and it works fine.
Unit may work well, but if you can't install it. Who cares.
Service gets negative stars.
Customer Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT UNIT FOR SMALL WINDOWS =} Comment: This A/C unit cools very quickly in my large master bedroom. It fits perfectly into the narrow window I have.(15.5 inches wide) The best features are the timers. I am able to set a cooling time for the unit to turn on, and I never have to worry about forgetting and entering a hot room. There's also a timer that can be set for the unit to shut-off as well. It also features an "energy saver" mode, which allows the unit to temporarily turn off when the room has reached the desired temperature, which saves $$$!

Nothing says home comfort like Frigidaire. Nobody delivers better quality, better service or a broader variety of home comfort products. With units ranging from 5,000 BTUH to 28,500 BTUH they provide quiet, efficient and reliable air conditioners for years of trouble-free service. Most included a remote thermostat, clean air filtration and low voltage start-up to add to consumer comfort, convenience and safety. And with their ENERGY STAR qualification for efficiency, they can provide comfort and savings for any room in your home. You expect all this from Frigidaire... and they deliver. How to Choose a Room Air Conditioner Compared to large capacity central units, room air conditioners have several advantages. The initial cost of a room air conditioning unit is significantly lower than the cost of central air. Because room air conditioners are designed for cooling small spaces, operating costs are reduced. And, room air conditioners can provide personalized temperature and humidity controls that central systems cannot. Calculating Cooling Capacity Cooling capacity is the critical factor in properly selecting a room air conditioner. Cooling capacity is measured in British Thermal Units (BTUs) and typical models will range in capacity from 5,000 BTUs to 28,500 BTUs. Choosing an undersized unit will overwork the unit and it will not cool properly. Choosing an oversized unit will cost more to buy and operate and it will not dehumidify properly. We can help you to calculate capacity.
