Summary: Won't work on some of the old stuff
Comment: I have an older Sears/Craftsman door opener and the remote control quit working. The universal clicker wouldn't work, so I ended up replacing the receiver. I'm not certain, but it may have been the receiver was so old that it couldn't be keyed to the new clicker. The circuit board was dated 1979, and it could have been the receiver was originally the problem. I was able to use the universal clicker with the new unit.

Summary: Works great with old and new openers
Comment: It took me only 15 minutes to program and test the KLIK1U with a new Liftmaster Elite model 3850 opener and a 1988 vintage Sears Craftsman opener (with 9 3-position slider switches). I only wish this transmitter had 3 buttons, since I have a second vintage Sears opener.

Summary: Smaller and Easier to Configure than Previous Models
Comment: This is much smaller than the older model (CLT1) and supports more openers (it adds support for "purple" learing buttons). It's also easy (if not intuitive) to configure.

Comment: I purchased this unit to be used in a third car. I needed something to open a driveway gate and a garage door. This unit works fine but the range is a little short, plus, the unit is a little picky about which way it is facing. The price is a little high for the quality that you get but the free shipping from Amazon helps negate that some. Overall, it is a decent remote.

Summary: Not useful at all, or at least falsely advertised
Comment: I think this is the worst item I've ever ordered from Amazon and I've ordered hundreds so that's saying a lot. It will be returned.
I purchased this as my garage at home only has one remote and I recently bought a second car. I also thought having the extra button would be great as I have a garage door that I use in the winter at work on weekends (the owners and managers get that privelege during the week), but now I just go inside and manually push the open button. It's not a parking garage, just a heated, unused part of the warehouse that has a big floor drain to melt off snow and road crudge (you know what I mean if you live in MN or other regularly snowy areas).
First, I must mention that both openers are listed as compatible brands. Only one is actually compatible, but pretty poorly at that. I read the manual thoroughly so I don't think ignorance on my part has a majority factor in my review.
At home, I used the "easy learn" or whatever and it worked immediately. No prob, OK. Then I noticed that the range is about 10 feet (I even tried a new battery) and if it on your visor, you must be right in front of your door and then tilt the visor down so the unit is basically aiming at the the approx location of the opener inside. Using the easy learn I also found that not only was my other remote in the other car rendered useless, but it also rendered the outdoor keypad inoperable. I think it must some how manually change the opener to however the dip switch is at that time, I don't know (both problems remedied by just keeping the old one and using the learn button with that and reprogramming the keypad).
I thought at work I for sure didn't want to disable my superiors' remotes, so I tried the dip switch method (the "not-easy" method? ha ha). I followed the instructions, matched the clicker's dip switch identically and tried to get the clicker to learn. No go. The manual says to maybe try all the dip switches opposite, still didn't work. The manual says to turn all of the unused dip switches to off if there are more than needed (in this case 4 were not needed); I tried it both ways with both methods of changing the switches needed but to no avail.
So really this item is a replacement for lost remotes at best. My old 1995 car (not high buck model so I doubt it's that expensive of an auto accessory) had three buttons that were very easily programmed by using the existing remotes and I guess copying the signals they send. This worked great so I had my home, my work and a vacation home codes built into my car's visor.
This item works, but not as advertised. I can only guess that positive reviewers used them with more common or newer openers (even though the manual lists both I tried as compatible). I think it's lousy and sending it back.
I know it would violate the TOS by posting a question with my email address so I'll ask it rhetorically: Can you buy an affordable and reliable remote that will learn from the remotes already in use? I will try and find out the answer and when I find one I will link my review to this product.
As far as Amazon and its service I have never been disappointed so I don't blame them. I pay for the prime shipping program and I recently ordered something at 6pm on a Monday and it was at my house with no shipping charges on Tuesday afternoon. Outstanding! I've never had a problem with returns either so I am not worried about this one.
All in all I think the Clicker is really a disappointment that's improperly advertised. If I could give it a zero stars, this is the only time I would ever use that opportunity.
