Summary: Portable for a standard door.
Comment: I bought this because I lived in an apartment. I did NOT use anything other than the bar to work out with; in other words, I did NOT use the extra brackets. It is my opinion that you don't "have" to use them, but they are there for safety/legal reasons. If you have controlled and thoughtful motion, the way it sits on the door frame and pushes on the sides makes it sturdy enough. However, to remove the bar, you lift it up (as seen on TV). If you were not paying attention during a workout, I can see where the lawyers are afraid you might dislodge it... so therefore, the extra security of the brackets. Your choice.

Beware, however, that the bar fits only standard doors. I've since moved into a townhouse with smaller spaces, and if there isn't room ABOVE the door, it won't work (the ceiling is flush with the door frame in the areas I have doors). Also, your door can't be WIDER than the bar (as in two double doors that open), because it needs the sides of the door frame to push against.

If you have normal sized doors, this is the one for you. The brackets? You can probably do without, but in case a lawyer is reading this... I'll say that you should use the brackets....

Summary: TERRIBLE
Comment: Be aware, brackets must be bolted onto your doorframe so it is not portable. Also, the nuts did not fit the bolts, and it did not even fit my doorframe. It was a total waste as it is too heavy to be worth mailing back. I am going to try the Iron Gym which does not require drilling into a wall and can double as pushup bars.

Summary: Excellent quality
Comment: The bar is made of high strength materials. The nuts are nylon insert lock nuts which resist from coming undone. Just remember that assemble it only once. Don't take it up part again. The nylon inserts are not designed to be reused.

Although the brackets can be attached to drywall only, I think it is better to attach it to solid wood. I put the bar on my utility room door, but cut a part of the drywall out to put a 2x4 for better strength. I just didn't want to take any chances.

The only problem I see is I find the standard doors too low for this installation. Unless you are in a great physical shape it is hard to use this with the knees bent. But I am sure as I use it more that will not be an issue.

Summary: Awesome product
Comment: I searched and tested many home chinup bars and this one trumps them all. Super sturdy and has 10+ exercises that you can use it for. It is the only one that I found that has saftey anchors in the wall, a huge plus if you are doing multiple reps quickly. To some this is a drawback because you have to install 2 small L brackets on the other side of the door.

Summary: Manton
Comment: It looks great but I wanted something that was portable - door to door, where ever I was, home or at the fire station. This has brackets that it hooks on, meaning, NOT PORTABLE! I didn't see it in print anywhere and am disapointed.
